Analysis of the current situation in terms of skilled labor was one of the most important items in a survey conducted by the Economic Development Agency “PRVI KORAK” LLC in companies in Konjic municipality. From the responses set out in these surveys could be seen that the problem of lack of skilled labor power is one of the main problems in the current production, and one of the main obstacles or limitations for the fulfillment of development plans.
This situation, that the labor market have a large number of unemployed, while at the same time, employers often can not find quality work force, must be complex and the result of the different influences that require serious and systematic analysis.
In order to create conditions for better employment of unemployed persons registered at the Employment Bureau in Konjic municipality, in 2016 were realized three projects of prequalification of the workforce in the following companies:
SurTec-Eurosjaj LLC was founded in 1996 as one of the first ‘joint venture’ activities in BiH with the company SurTec International (Germany), one of the leading manufacturers of specialty chemicals for surface treatment of metals in Europe. Today, SurTec-Eurosjaj is 100% BiH company in terms of development parts of surface protection based on SurTec technology and became the general agent SurTec, Klüber and OKS brand.
Due to the multi-million investment in the production facility of hot zink, company SurTec Eurosjaj LLC Konjic has expressed the need to hire workers with specific skills in this area, which resulted in the training of 70 candidates.
The new plant now employs 50 people who successfully completed the training, and on this way the company SurTec Eurosjaj LLC round off the range of services they provide, and are trained to provide services to the most demanding customers with a wide range of requests, all in one place.
Company Kristal Komerce LLC Konjic was founded in 1995. The main activity of the company is the procurement and installation of PVC and alumunium profiles. The company also produces aluminum blinds and strip curtains which occupies an important role in equipping large halls, offices, private and residential spaces. Rising competition and the changed market conditions caused the company follow these requirements and introduces new quality standards. Due to increase market share, the Company reported need to expand production capacity and hire new workers. As a result, the company has invested in the purchase of a new production hall at the site of the industrial zone “Šipad”.
Accordingly, Company expressed the need for prequalification of the workforce for the profession of carpenter PVC carpentry, locksmith and glazier. By this project was carried out training and retraining of 36 candidates, out of which 25 are employed in this company.
The company Rukotvorine LLC is owned by the family Niksic. Distinctive B&H brand, which is a traditional woodcraft integrated into modern design. Company director, Adem Niksic with his brother Orhan are fourth generation that deals with this trade. Rukotovorine LLC produce traditional Bosnian furniture and cooperate with well-known Bosnian and international designers of furniture. Its products have so far been exhibited in numerous exhibitions around the world.
The project sought to expand the production area and open a museum dedicated to the art and history of woodcarving in Konjic.
Due to the need for expanding its production capacity, company expressed the need for prequalification of the workforce for manual and mechanical processing of wood. By implementation of this project, 16 candidates acquired the above mentioned knowledge and skills, while 15 of them are employed.
These projects employed in total of 90 employees, and the implementation itself would not be possible without the participation of the following partners: Konjic Municipality, USAID – Sida GOLD Project, Federal Bureau of Employment and Economic Development Agency “PRVI KORAK” LLC Konjic.
At the Municipal Council has been adopted Local Employment Action Plan (LEAP) for the period 2016-2018. (LEAP) prepared by Economic Development Agency “PRVI KORAK” LLC, and planned amount of resources is 132.000,00 BAM for each year in that period. Based on performed surveys on the needs of the labor market conducted by the Economic Development Agency “PRVI KORAK” LLC in cooperation with entrepreneurs, was concluded that there are great opportunities for the employment of the existing workforce on the Bureau of Employment, through formal and non-formal education, and its workplace could be found in the business sector of the Konjic Municipality.
Agency established contacts with the USAID-Sida GOLD Project and the Federal Burea of Employment (FZZZ) Sarajevo and in cooperation with the Konjic Municipality joined the implementation of projects for non-formal education, in accordance with the needs of the business sector that has shown the need for a certain profile of the workforce.
After a period of training and prequalification, and on the basis of the signed agreement, the training is in the above mentioned companies attended a total of 122 person, where 90 of them were employed.
Agency “PRVI KORAK” LLC (after the implementation of projects) prepared final reports with complete documentation and submitted them to all the participants in the project. This practice in the period 2014-2016. proved to be extremely successful and through these projects were employed 165 persones, and in the coming period is planned to continue with this practice.
One of the project that will start in early 2017, and for which is signed the agreement between the Konjic municipality and USAID / PPMG for financing the employment of marginalized groups of women, and the project should be implemented by the Agency.
The Agency is also applied to the public call of the International Labour Organization (Support Local Employment Partnerships in BiH) in partnership with Federal Bureau of Employment Sarajevo, Konjic municipality, High School Konjic, Association of Entrepreneurs (in the project 8 companies should take part), with the aim of further employment in the future.
